Check this guy out with his hack job redneck suspension lift.
Here's some real butchery. I bet this guy thinks this'll really work.

The problem here is that the front leaf springs will have a lot of leverage on those blocks when the truck makes a turn or hits a bump. This will make the blocks flex like this:
                                             ____                            _____
                                           /      /                          /      /
                                          /____/                          /____/

This flexing motion will probably lead to this dude installing steering damper shocks in an attempt to eliminate the problem of the death wobbles (speed shakes) and erratic bump-steer. Flexing will also lead to premature failure of steering parts.

... and how about the usage of a 22mm socket as a spacer since he didn't have the right sized bolt to mount the shock.
LOL, and the shock is mounted to the anti-sway bar tab. Man, this guy is good at creative butchery Tongue I think he even reused the old spring bolts to mount that shock like that.

I guess the old shocks didn't reach their mout points anymore after the 4" redneck lift kit

... oh, and it gets even better.
Check out how he remounted the rear air shocks after the rear shackle flip.
It looks like he re-used the old stock front shackles and bolts to build this mount.
I really get a kick out of the bolts he used to fill the space on the top of that thing so the mount wouldn't rock side to side.

Looks like he nailed it on the rear shackles.
Those are Shackles off of a Dodge Dakota.
A perfect match for an easy shackle flip on a Dodge Ram truck.

i do like the socket/spacer idea. while everything else belongs in the H.O.S., the socket is pretty cool. maybe that pic could find it's way to the other board also?Huh??

When I do the Wrong and Not So Wrong  write up on how to get some lift without any money, I'll be adding all of these pics. I'll also show the better way to build the front lift block where it'll actually add strength to the front of the truck.

I need to get that done soon, before I modify the front with the new slide bumper.
Oh, talking about slide bumpers...

(I have some hack job pics of that I'll post in a new topic  uglystupid)

Here's the proper way to do the front lift block...

I finally pulled that "correct" 3" lift block out of the front, and TrenchBuster is getting a true suspension lift with custom re-arched leaf springs. All low dollar, DIY fabrication w/ some boneyard leaf springs leaves and the stock spring packs.
